You can comment from anywhere that has internet access. When you get updates (you can request email alerts) you can check it out. I'm thinking that teachers will be piloting in the next couple of weeks or they'll wait until after the holidays.

I have used the Boldt Decision with my upper level Native Studies class, and they really got into it. It really hit home with them, because many of them rely on the salmon as a part of their income and food as well. Even more importantly, they knew relatives that were involved in the case, so looking a major court decision from their cultural perspective really help to get a discussion going about the importance of determiniation, cooperation and teamwork towards a common goal that resulted from Boldt.

When I open the Boldt HS Unit zip drive it comes up on my computer as symbols - there is no text. Is there something I need to do to have my computer read this file?

I don't know why it's doing that. It's just a Word document, so I'm a bit confused. I'll repost it (I'm thinking maybe the zip is the problem). Has anyone else had a problem?

I'm also delighted to hear about Victoria's student response, too! WAY TO GO!!

As far as opening the zip folder for Boldt, you don't need to. All the other documents are in that zip folder, so try downloading those. Let me know if it works.

Hey Middle School Teachers: I forgot to attach the Revolution Unit intro, but now it's there as Document 1 in the Middle School folder.

Hi Shana,
Has the Elementary Lesson Plan section been edited since the training in the fall? I want to reprint if there are a lot of changes.
Thanks.

Hi, Michi. It has not been updated; however the new units on the American Revolution will be out this week after Jerry and Elese take a look at it.

We've added a bunch of new curriculum and labels to better identify the resources. Check out the new videos and updated 7th grade and 8th grade WA and US units.

Shana,
Can you tell me the source for the Salmon Columbia Stories pdf? It seems like there are several items in there, but not all of the resources identified.
Thanks,
Michi

Hi, Teachers. I've made public all the curriculum folders in case some of you were having trouble accessing the information and materials. Please download everything you need! Let me know what else you need to be able to get going with your pilot. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Hi, Everyone. I know it's not easy working with this unfamiliar digital tool. Please hang in there, and call or email me if you have any questions. To those I have registered as writers (typically pilot teachers and their administrators, please be careful not to edit any of the pages other than leaving a comment. The home page was altered and our link to our curriculum evaluation survey was mistakenly deleted. It is there now, and here's the link as well: http://tinyurl.com/curriculumeval. Thanks, and keep up the great work! Hope to see you all at WSIEA April 1 - 3.

I have already shown the video "Through Salmon Eyes'. I tried to see what you had on the link -- is it a copy of the movie? I couldn't open the files. Is there a worksheet or discussion activity somewhere on this site to use with students after viewing the movie?

Hi, Maria. In the folder are two versions of the same movie file: one in mp4 format and one in .mov format. NWIFC did not put together a student/teacher guide for that movie (that I'm aware of). I could be wrong: Does anyone know of student materials for "Through Salmon Eyes?"

4th Grade materials on Living in Washington are now available. Level 1 Children's story "I Wish..." and an introductory article written at grade level; a Level 2 WebQuest; and an albeit incomplete Level 3 storypath (Can teach 3 of the 10 episodes and still work toward the CBA). There are also .mov versions of powerpoints on Celilo with rare photos. Enjoy! Let me know if you need any assistance.

Hi, Everyone. The curriculum continuum has been updated to include more materials and GLE alignment citations. Also, I've edited the elementary Constitution unit intro--quotes, graphics, and more accurate language. Replace the old one with the new one!

This truly is amazing. Can I share this with teachers in my building?
